Watch: Virat Kohli walked off livid with himself after yet another dismissal to the outside edge during the SCG Test, in what could potentially be his final Test innings in Australia.
Kohli has now been dismissed eight times in nearly identical fashion in the series so far, edging behind to the wicketkeeper or slip cordon. Australia have openly admitted targetting the weakness, with Scott Boland almost predicting the exact dismissal at the end of the second day's play at the SCG.
In the final session of day three, Kohli walked out with India on 47-2, with both openers back in the hut. India had eked out a slender four-run lead, but Australia's fast bowlers claimed control after a brisk start.
Kohli batted for eleven deliveries, before Boland managed to get an outside edge, leaving Kohli with his fifth single-digit score of the series. As he looked back, and saw Steve Smith at second slip pouching the catch, Kohli's head sank in disappointment. Visibly angry, he punched himself on his waist, before walking off with his head down, muttering to himself.
With this dismissal, Boland has now dismissed Kohli four times in the series. In the first innings, he was dismissed similarly, poking a Boland delivery to Beau Webster at third slip.
It could well be Kohli's final Test innings in Australia, a country where he has hit seven centuries, averaging 46.72. For the first time since November 2016, his career Test average has slipped below 47.
Earlier, with Jasprit Bumrah walking off the field and being driven to the hospital for scans, Kohli stood in as captain.
