Watch: Sam Konstas took Australia off to a flier in their run-chase at the SCG, but was dismissed slogging across the line soon after.
Australia were set 162 runs to win the fifth Test and take the series 3-1. India were without their captain and best bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who had walked off the field with back spasms on day two.
The visitors started erratically, with both Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj conceding byes down the leg side. Konstas was at his innovative and attacking best, working balls off his hips and playing the occasional swipe across the line. His cameo, coupled with India's extras, took Australia to 35 in their first three overs.
Commentator Mark Howard mentioned that it was the highest score Australia have achieved after the first three overs of a Test innings since records began.
However, Konstas wasn't satisfied. Having got four runs off the first four balls of Prasidh's second over, he went for an ungainly slog across the line off a length ball on the stumps, only to top edge it to Washington Sundar at mid-off.
Konstas' knock ended at 22 off 17, including three boundaries. Prasidh then also got the wickets of Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith. Australia were 60-3 at the time of writing.
