Watch: Rishabh Pant dismissed by rank long hop from Travis Head to set off match-turning collapse

Rishabh Pant was dismissed by Travis Head in the MCG Test

Watch: Rishabh Pant was out caught at the long on boundary off a short ball by Travis Head, setting off a collapse that turned the MCG Test in Australia's favour.

After losing three quick wickets before lunch on day five in their run-chase of 340, India's ship was steadied by the pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant. Both left-handers added 79 runs in the second session without losing a wicket to raise India's hopes of saving the Test and potentially even think about going for a late win.

Australia started the final session with Head and Nathan Lyon, much to the surprise of everyone. The commentators questioned the move and called it defensive, but it eventually turned out to be a masterstroke. On the fourth ball of the fifth over after tea, Head bowled a half-tracker that Pant looked to deposit over mid-wicket. But he couldn't manage to get good enough connection, miscuing it to long on.

Following his dismissal, India went from 121-3 to 140-7 in the space of 12.1 overs, opening the game for Australia as they closed in on victory.
