Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets in the second innings of the Gabba Test, going past Kapil Dev's record of most wickets taken by an Indian bowler in a single country outside India.
After nearly putting on a one-man show in the first innings, where he took five of the first six Australian wickets to fall, Bumrah initiated another collapse in the second innings, getting rid of Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne inside the first seven overs to give India a chance in the game.
Australia eventually declared at 89-7, their third-lowest declared Test innings, and Bumrah finished with 3-18 to go with his 6-76 in the first innings, taking his match tally to 9-94, his fourth nine-wicket haul and third-best match figures in Tests.
The wicket of Labuschagne in the second innings was Bumrah's 52nd on Australian soil, making him the first Indian cricketer to reach that high a number in a country other than India. He went past Kapil Dev and Ishant Sharma, both of whom had taken 51 wickets in Australia and England respectively.
Currently, Bumrah's record in Australia reads 53 wickets from 10 Tests at an absurd average of 17.15. No visiting bowler has more wickets at a better average in Australia in the history of Test cricket.
