Australia were bowled out for 104 in their first innings against India in Perth, slipping to their second-lowest home Test total against India.
In the first Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India chose to bat first, only to be bowled out for 150 in two sessions. Debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy top-scored with 41 from No.8, putting on 48 for the seventh wicket with Rishabh Pant (37).
It appeared that the visitors had put up a below-par score – until they came out to bowl. Captain Jasprit Bumrah led from the front, trapping Nathan McSweeney lbw in the third over, before getting rid of Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith off consecutive balls four overs later.
Youngster Harshit Rana then chipped in, knocking back Travis Head's off stump with a gem of a delivery before Mohammed Siraj accounted for Mitchell Marsh to leave the hosts reeling at 38-5.

Siraj struck the sixth blow as well, dismissing Marnus Labuschagne, who had to walk back for a painful two runs, off 52 balls. Bumrah took a seventh wicket on day one, dismissing opposite number Pat Cummins to make sure Australia ended the day at 67-7.
On day two, Harshit Rana bowled a tight first over before Bumrah struck with his first ball of the day to remove wicketkeeper Alex Carey and complete his 11th five-for in Test cricket. Rana then dismissed Nathan Lyon before Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood frustrated India but eventually folded for 104, handing the visitors a 46-run lead.
Lowest Test totals against India outside India
Australia's total of 104 is their second-lowest at home against India in the history of Test cricket, after their total of 83 in Melbourne, in 1981. India's best-ever effort with the ball in this respect came earlier this year, when they bowled South Africa out for 55 in Cape Town in the first innings.
The pitch in that match received an 'unsatisfactory' rating from the ICC, and the game finished in two days as India were then bowled out for 153 and South Africa 176, before the visitors chased down 80 in 12 overs.
