KL Rahul suffered an injury scare during India’s intra-squad match at Perth ahead of the 2024-2025 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Rahul, one of the contenders for an opening spot in case Rohit Sharma misses the first Test, opened the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal during the practice match.
According to the reporters at the venue, Rahul was injured after being hit on his right elbow by a rising delivery from Prasidh Krishna. He was soon attended by medical staff. Though he tried to resume batting after the first aid, Rahul was seen leaving the field with physio.

The India batter has been enduring a rough patch after being endorsed for a middle-order role in the recent home series against New Zealand. Following a loss in Bengaluru, where he made 0 and 12, Rahul was left out, and India succumbed to a historic 3-0 defeat.
After Sarfaraz, KL gets hit
Incidentally, Sarfaraz Khan also suffered a hit to his right elbow earlier in the week during training, and was seen walking out of the nets session.
Rahul was recently included in India A’s XI for the second unofficial Test against Australia A. He was promoted as an opener alongside Abhimanyu Easwaran, Rohit’s other backup for India’s Tests. 4 and 10 were all he could manage, including a bizarre dismissal in the second innings where he was bowled through his legs while leaving a ball from off-spinner Corey Rocchiccioli.
India are aiming for the third successive series victory in Australia, having won for the first time in 2018. The series is also crucial for their World Test Championship (WTC) final chances after their 0-3 loss against New Zealand at home. The first Test will begin in Perth from November 22.
