India batter Sarfaraz Khan was spotted leaving a training session early after being hit on the elbow, ahead of the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which starts next week.
In a training clip posted by Fox Cricket, Sarfaraz was seen walking off the training nets after being hit on his right elbow while batting. The Indian team is practising in Perth for the start of the five-Test series, having landed in Australia in two batches a few days ago.
Wisden.com has learnt that there are "no issues" with Sarfaraz after the hit.
The 27-year-old is in contention for a spot in the first Test, which captain Rohit Sharma is expected to miss due to personal reasons. Sarfaraz will be battling with Dhruv Jurel and KL Rahul for a middle-order spot. He's played six Tests since his debut in February, starting off with back-to-back fifties.
However, he's blown hot-and-cold since, having scored a 150 against New Zealand in Bengaluru, but also managing just one fifty in his other seven innings.
Sarfaraz is yet to play a Test outside India, and will be looking to address concerns around his ability to play on bouncy pitches. Speaking to Cricinfo, Western Australia's head curator Issac McDonald said: "This is Australia, this is Perth... I'm setting ourselves up for really good pace, really good bounce and really good carry".
