India were dismissed for 150 during the Perth Test, equalling their lowest total in the first innings in the country.
Jasprit Bumrah, standing in for Rohit Sharma, who is away on paternity leave, won the toss and opted to bat first at the Optus Stadium on Friday (Novemner 22). In just 49.4 overs, though, India had been bowled out, falling for 150 within two sessions.
Debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy was the highest scorer in the innings, making 41, becoming the only batter to cross 40. Rishabh Pant made 37 in an innings where six dismissed batters registered single-digit scores.
Josh Hazlewood was the star among the bowlers, grabbing 4-29 in his 13 overs, including dismissing Virat Kohli. He gave away 2.20 runs an over, ensuring there was no respite for the batters.
India have equalled their lowest score in the country in the first innings, their 150 all out being their lowest in Australia in 24 years. India have been dismissed for under 200 six times in the first innings in Australia, four of which have come this century.
They were dismissed for 150 in Sydney in 2000, lasting 67.5 overs on that occasion. Sachin Tendulkar had made 45, with Glenn McGrath picking up a five-wicket haul. India have never won a Test in Australia whenever they have been all out for less than 200 in the first innings.
