Rain could play spoilsport on day one of the Adelaide Test between Australia and India

The second Test of the 2024 Border-Gavaskar Trophy between Australia and India will be played from tomorrow (December 6) in Adelaide. Here's the weather forecast for the day-night Test.

India started the series on a winning note. Despite being bowled out for 150, they fought back by bowling out Australia for 104, thanks to stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah’s 5-30. At one stage, Australia were reduced to 38-5, their second-worst start in a home Test match this century.

Having fought their way back into the match, India then started with a record 201-run opening stand between Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul. Building on the solid platform, Virat Kohli, who was struggling for form, struck an unbeaten 143-ball 100 to help the visiting side set up a target of 534 for Australia – the highest they have ever set them to chase in Test cricket.

Chasing the mammoth score, Travis Head (89) and Mitchell Marsh (47) showed some resilience but it was not enough as the home team succumbed to a 295-run defeat.

At 0-1 down, Australia would be looking to claw their way back into the series. They have won 11 of the 12 pink-ball Tests they have played. Their only loss came this year, against the West Indies, who recorded their first Test victory down under since 1997.

However, rain could play spoilsport on the opening day of the second Test in Adelaide.
