Australia will take on India in the first Test of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth from Friday (November 22). Here's Wisden's pick of the betting odds for the game.

Australia v India 1st Test: Who will win?

Australia has been a happy hunting ground for India in recent years, as they have won their last two series Down Under, in 2018-19 and 2020-21. But, this time around, they come into the tour off the back of a 3-0 whitewash at home to New Zealand, and with a few selection headaches. In addition, India lost the last Test match they played at the Optus Stadium.

Batery offers a 3.45 return for every pound bet for India's victory, compared to Australia's 1.30, making the hosts clear favourites to make a good start to the series.

Australia v India 1st Test: Which team will have the highest individual score?

Batery offer over-under odds of 1.85 on the mark of 149.5 being the highest individual score of the game.

As far as the hosts are concerned, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne are the best bets to play a long innings, especially if Australia get to bat first in Perth. India will be without captain Rohit Sharma in Perth, and Shubman Gill could also miss out. Virat Kohli is not in the best of form, and the likes of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel will be playing in Australia for the first time.

If there's one team to bet on here, it's clearly Australia.

Australia v India 1st Test: Which side will hit most fours and sixes?

Batery have similar odds – 1.57 to 2.40 in Australia's favour for fours and 1.75 to 2.45 in Australia's favour for sixes. The hosts are understandably favourites here as they are expected to bat longer, and are therefore a safe bet.

But India could well have YJaiswal, Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz in their batting line-up – all batters who love to deal in boundaries. If they get going, it's very possible they will out-hit Australia in this respect. It's a riskier shot, but could pay dividends.
