Watch: Heinrich Klaasen’s brutal 174 led South Africa to a 164-run win against Australia in the fourth ODI. Here are the SA vs AUS highlights.
After trailing 0-2 in the five-match ODI series, South Africa won two on the trot to equalise the series. The win in the fourth ODI came after a stunning batting display by the hosts on September 15 at Centurion, where they made 416-5. Having made 24 off the first 25 balls he faced, Heinrich Klaasen blasted 150 in the next 58 to finish on 174.
Coming to bat at No.5, Klaasen smashed 13 fours and as many sixes in his whirlwind knock, scoring his runs at a strike rate of 210 after South Africa were asked to bat first.
The hosts began their innings cautiously, as openers Reeza Hendricks and Quinton de Kock put on 64. Three quick wickets brought Australia back into the game Rassie van der Dussen’s first fifty in nine innings brought back stability. There was no looking back thereafter, as a double-hundred stand between Klaasen and David Miller in 87 balls led them to 416-5.
Klaasen also registered the second-highest ODI score by a men’s batter at No.5 or below, after Kapil Dev’s 175 not out in the 1983 World Cup.

Though Alex Carey kept the runs flowing with a 77-ball 99, no other batter crossed 35 in the innings, as Australia were all out for 252.
The fifth and final ODI between the two sides will be played on Sunday, September 17 at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
