Watch: Australia skipper Pat Cummins managed to dismiss Pakistan middle-order batter Fawad Alam on a nailbiting fifth day at Karachi.
After nearly a whole day of Pakistan dominance with the bat in the second Test, Australia struck back in the form of Abdullah Shafique’s wicket at the stroke of lunch on day five. Still, with Babar Azam and Fawad on the crease, Pakistan continued their fight for a draw in the middle session.
It was in the 119th over that Cummins, who had also accounted for Abdullah, brought about Fawad’s downfall. The third ball of the over was on the good length and angled in towards Fawad’s off stump after pitching. The batter couldn’t help but play at the ball. The ball took his bat’s edge, and swerved to the left of the keeper Alex Carey, who took a sharp catch to dismiss Fawad.
Rob Key, on-air, went: “Oh, excellent! That is outstanding. What an effort this has been from the Australian captain. That is perfect, perfect line, perfect length, and another wicket for him.”
