Watch: Aaron Finch succumbed to his sixth first-ball duck in ODIs after missing a Shaheen Shah Afridi full-toss, leaving him lbw for a golden duck in the second Pakistan-Australia ODI in Lahore.
Finch, who has had a long history of lbw struggles throughout his career, could do little when Shaheen’s opening delivery from over the wicket darted straight into his front foot, missing his intended flick stroke. Shaheen ran past him in a celebrappeal, and a staggered Finch had little time to react, beginning to walk away even before umpire Aleem Dar had properly raised his finger.
Playing his first ODI series since December 2020, Finch was also dismissed for a first-ball duck the last time he faced Shaheen in a white-ball game, during the T20 World Cup semi-final in Dubai last November. This was the first time Shaheen has dismissed him in a one-dayer. Incidentally, Shaheen’s first international wicket was also Finch, back in 2018.
