On a two-paced surface at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, India struggled their way through to 160 in their 20 overs courtesy of a fighting half-century by Shreyas Iyer, his eighth in the format for India.

Travis Head then took Australia off to a flying start, hitting three fours off the first three balls of the run-chase. He continued his assault, reaching 22 off 14 balls by the end of the fourth over.

At that stage, Australia were racing ahead at 40-1. Suryakumar Yadav, the India captain, decided to bring on spin. Bishnoi was given the fifth over.

After conceding a single off the first ball, Bishnoi stitched two dots against Head. Something had to give, as Head bent down and slog swept the fourth ball of the over for a six over mid-wicket.

Bishnoi, however, came back strongly. A quicker and flatter delivery on off stump going away from the left-hander with the over-the-wicket angle deceived Head as he went back to fend it to the off-side. It beat his outside edge and crashed into the top of his off-stump, ending his brief cameo at 28 off 18 balls.

Bishnoi then took another wicket in his next over to leave Australia stuttering at 55-3 after seven overs.
