Watch: Virat Kohli was strangled down the leg side by debutant Todd Murphy, leaving the former India captain stunned and bringing Australia back into the game.
India had gotten off to a good start on day two with Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin looking solid at the crease. The India captain, in particular, was batting beautifully. Ashwin, though, departed with the score reading 118-2. Cheteshwar Pujara was also dismissed soon after, leaving Kohli and Rohit to consolidate India’s advantage. Kohli, however, fell prey to Murphy on the first ball after the lunch interval.
The off-spinner bowled a back of a length delivery down the leg side and Kohli tried to work it behind square. All he could manage, however, was a feather through to Alex Carey. The wicketkeeper stretched out to his left, juggled it initially but then hold onto the chance. The wicket reduced India to 151-4, with the onus shifting onto Rohit and debutant Suryakumar Yadav. India still remain in control of the game, although they would have ideally liked to see Kohli getting some runs and imposing himself on the contest.
