Watch: India captain Rohit Sharma produced a stunning six when facing Nathan Lyon during the first Test between India and Australia at Nagpur.
The shot in question took place on the last ball of the 14th over. Rohit had already gotten off to a good start and was looking to signal his intention to dominate. Lyon, who has had the better of Rohit in the past, tossed the ball up on a full length on middle and off stump. Rohit judged the length superbly, danced down the track, got to the pitch of the ball and smashed it over long off for a majestic six. The six off Lyon was one of the highlights of Rohit’s innings as he completed his half-century just before the end of day one.
Earlier in the day, Australia were skittled out for 177 after opting to bat first. Ravindra Jadeja was their tormentor-in-chief, picking up five wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin also bagged a three-wicket haul, with Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj taking a wicket apiece. India ended the day on 77-1 in a strong position, especially if Rohit continues hitting sixes like these.
