Watch: Ravichandran Ashwin produced a double-wicket over to peg Australia back in the fourth Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Australia, courtesy of a double-century stand between Cameron Green and Usman Khawaja, had established a position of considerable strength. Both batters had also reached their respective tons. In the 131st over, though, Ashwin dented the visitors’ charge, picking up the wickets of Green and wicket-keeper batter Alex Carey. Green was dismissed off the second ball of the over. Ashwin darted the ball down the leg side and the Australian all-rounder, while trying to sweep it away, could only manage a tickle off the glove to the keeper. KS Bharat moved smartly to his left and gobbled up the chance.
On the final ball of that over, Ashwin flighted the ball nicely on a length outside off stump. Carey’s eyes lit up and he tried to carve it over extra cover. Unfortunately for him, he was not to the pitch of the ball and could only slice it tamely towards Axar Patel in the backward point region. Australia still find themselves in a strong position, with Khawaja at the crease. But courtesy of these two wickets, India would now be hoping to restrict Australia to a score under 450.
