Watch: Mohammed Shami smashed two consecutive sixes off Todd Murphy to go past Virat Kohli in the list of most sixes hit by Indian batters in Test cricket.
India were comfortably placed at 364-8 after 130.2 overs when Shami decided to drive home the advantage even further. The third ball of the over pitched on a full length just outside off stump. Shami planted his front foot and crunched the ball over long off for six.
Murphy tried to change his line and bowled the next ball a little further away, but Shami was up to the task. He got down on one knee, extended his arms and whacked it over cow corner to bring up his 25th six in Test cricket.
Shami now has more Test sixes than Kohli, KL Rahul, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Yuvraj Singh. His 37 on the third day pushed the Indian lead to 223 as they were eventually bowled out for 400. Murphy finished with 7-124.
At the time of writing, but after the end of their first innings, they would fancy their chances of skittling Australia out quickly, especially on a surface that has begun assisting the spinners a lot more. At the time of writing, Australia are 7-1 in the second innings.
