Watch: A fumble by wicketkeeper KL Rahul resulted in a strange runout of Cameron Green, who was eventually dismissed after Suryakumar Yadav threw the stumps down during the first Australia-India ODI on Friday (September 22).
Chaos ensued on the second ball of the 40th over, bowled by Mohammed Shami to Green. Shami sent down a slower delivery, which the batter pushed to the keeper. However, Rahul was unable to get to the ball, as it fell just short of him. However, he was unable to collect it cleanly as the ball went through his legs to Ruturaj Gaikwad at third-man. Had he collected the ball, that would have been the end of it. Instead, the batters set off.
Gaikwad picked up the ball and threw it to the keeper’s end, but missed, as the ball flew through to the non-striker’s end, where Shami failed to collect the ball. However, Suryakumar was behind Shami, and he collected the ball before effortlessly taking out the stumps at the non-striker’s end.

Meanwhile, the two batters had completed one run, but Josh Inglis was guilty of ball-watching at the striker’s end, and Green, who had almost run two, had to retrace his steps, but fell short as Yadav completed the run out.
