In a five-match T20I series, the two sides will reconvene for the first time since the World Cup 2023 final, where Australia defeated India to become the champions for the record sixth time. Five Indian venues – Visakhapatnam, Thiruvananthapuram, Guwahati, Raipur and Bengaluru – will host the clashes between November 23 and December 3.

With the upcoming 2024 T20I World Cup just six months away, India have rested the majority of their squad from their gruelling World Cup 2023 campaign as only three individuals from that contingent– Suryakumar Yadav, Prasidh Krishna and  Ishan Kishan – will feature in the series.

While Suryakumar will lead the side in the absence of Hardik Pandya, who continues to recover from an ankle injury, Ruturaj Gaikwad will act as his deputy before Shreyas Iyer takes over in the last two fixtures.

Meanwhile, Matthew Wade is at the helm of the 15-member Australia squad, which includes World Cup final hero Travis Head, Steven Smith, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Josh Inglis and Adam Zampa. The pace trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood has opted to rest as they flew home after helping their side become titleholders.
