In the fourth ODI between England and Australia at Lord's on Friday (September 27), visiting wicketkeeper Josh Inglis was booed by the crowd after claiming a bounce-catch.
Australian captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss and chose to field first in a match reduced to 39-overs-a-side due to rain. Openers Phil Salt and Ben Duckett saw out the eight-over Powerplay period, but Salt departed soon after, caught off the bowling of Josh Hazlewood.
Will Jacks came and went soon after, falling victim to Marsh, bringing Harry Brook to the crease alongside Duckett. The English skipper had been the hero in the third ODI, with his 110 not out leading them to victory.

Off the fourth ball of the 17th over, Mitchell Starc delivered one down the leg side to Brook, who attempted a flick even as the ball went through to wicketkeeper Josh Inglis. There was a noise as the ball passed Brook's bat, and the decision on the field was out, contingent on the umpires checking the legality of the catch.
There was no doubt over whether Brook had hit the ball, but replays showed that as the ball made its way to Inglis, it had fallen a couple of inches short of the keeper before settling into his gloves. Brook was subsequently given not out.

As the replays were shown on the screen at the venue, boos began to ring out from the home crowd. These were reminiscent of the scenes during Australia's previous match at Lord's, which came in the 2023 Ashes. On that occasion, Alex Carey had stumped Jonny Bairstow in controversial fashion, in the eyes of some. Carey was on the field on Friday as well, but not with the keeping gloves.
At the time of writing, England were 154-3 in 23.4 overs.
