On Tuesday (September 24), Australia's Mitchell Starc went past compatriot and namesake Mitchell Johnson to move into fourth place on two notable lists.
In the third of five ODIs against England, Australia were put in to bat first at Chester-le-Street. Despite losing Matthew Short and Mitchell Marsh early, half-centuries from Steve Smith (60) and Alex Carey (77*) along with contributions from Cameron Green (42) and Aaron Hardie (44) helped them post 304-7 in a must-win match for the hosts.

England started poorly in their chase, losing openers Phil Salt and Ben Duckett in the third over for zero and eight respectively. Both wickets went to Starc. With his first, the wicket of Salt, Starc moved past Mitchell Johnson on the list of highest wicket-takers in ODIs for Australia, with a tally of 240 (241 after his second of the game).
This moved Starc into fourth place on two separate lists – highest ODI wicket-takers for Australia, and highest ODI wicket-takers among left-arm pace bowlers.
Mitchell Starc moves past Mitchell Johnson, into fourth on two lists
Only Brett Lee, Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne have taken more ODI wickets for Australia than Starc. He is only behind teammate Adam Zampa as the most inexperienced player among the team's top 10 wicket-takers of all time, with 123 ODIs so far. Starc should manage to hit the 300 mark by the end of his career, but Lee and McGrath are unlikely to be surpassed.
Among players of his bowling type in this format, Starc is also fourth now. Johnson shared not only a country and first name with him, but he was a left-arm seamer as well. In all likelihood, he will catch up to Zaheer Khan sooner rather than later. Sri Lanka's Chaminda Vaas and Pakistan's Wasim Akram are unlikely to be caught, though.
