England have come back from 0-2 down to level their ongoing ODI series against Australia. If they go one better to clinch the series in Bristol on Sunday, they would join an elite list of teams to do the same.

After England lost to Australia by seven wickets in the series opener in Nottingham, captain Harry Brook received criticism for his seemingly flippant remarks over his side's dismissals. He was made to look even worse when they went on to lose the next match as well, by 68 runs in Leeds.

With Australia on the rampage, the road ahead looked anything but promising for an inexperienced England outfit, but they rallied. Brook led from the front in the third ODI in Durham with an unbeaten ton to help secure a 46-run win, and the bowling attack breathed fire in a shortened game at Lord's to blow the tourists away.

A victory in the final ODI in Bristol would help the hosts to register a famous series-win, and achieve something that has been done just six times before.

Coming back from losing the first two games of a five-match series is a rare occurrence. In all of ODI history, it has been done just six times, all since the turn of the century.

South Africa were the first team to do it, on their tour of Pakistan in 2003. The hosts won the first two matches, both in Lahore before securing a narrow DLS win in Faisalabad. The bowlers did the job for the Proteas in the last two fixtures, bowling Pakistan out for 157 and 192 respectively to help them register six- and seven- wicket wins and complete a memorable series victory.

An England side has achieved this feat before, and on home soil too. In 2012, India women travelled to England and won the first two matches at Lord's and in Taunton. The hosts then hit back with victories in Taunton, Truro and Wormsley, all while chasing with one via the DLS method, just like South Africa.

The most recent occurrence of this came last year when Australia toured South Africa for a pre-World Cup series. The tourists won a low-scoring game by three wickets in Bloemfontein, before recording a 123-run victory at the same venue. But South Africa roared back in some style, winning each of the last three matches in Potchefstroom, Centurion and Johannesburg by over 100 runs.
