The wicket came at 10.59am, before the scheduled start of play.
Anderson, recalled for the fourth Test at his home ground, had bowled economically but without luck on day one, with an inside-edge from Mitchell Starc going past the stumps late in proceedings to sum up his efforts.
Anderson has struggled in the series so far, taking three wickets at 89.67 apiece coming into the second day. He instantly improved that average, though the wicket itself was something of a gift. Cummins drove the first ball of the day uppishly to cover point, where Ben Stokes held onto the catch.
