Watch: Taskin Ahmed dismissed Maheesh Theekshana with a well-directed short ball, which the tailender played awkwardly to the wicketkeeper during the 2023 Asia Cup Bangladesh-Sri Lanka clash on September 9.

Sri Lanka were led by Kusal Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama in their innings, who made 50 and 93, respectively, but they faltered towards the end, losing their last five wickets for 33 runs. Taskin ensured Bangladesh ended on a high, picking two wickets in the last over, including dismissing Theekshana with a short ball.

The first ball of the 50th over was aimed at the batter’s body, cramping him up for room. Theekshana looked to block the ball but got hit in the gloves before it lobbed up to wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim.

Taskin also dismissed Samarawickrama on 93 when he was looking to go for a big hit on the last ball of the innings.

The seamer ended with 3-62, as Sri Lanka made 257-9.
