Watch: Rohit Sharma took on the leg-side field, played slog and whip-sweeps during a rapid fifty in India’s 2023 Asia Cup clash against Nepal on September 4 (Monday).
India’s revised DLS target was 145 runs in 23 overs after they bowled out Nepal for 230 in 48.2 overs. India reached 31-0 after five overs and reached 64 in the next five, with Rohit and Shubman Gill batting at just over run a ball.
Rohit decided to take on the bowlers soon after, hitting Sandeep Lamichhane for a four and six off successive balls in the 11th over. Two balls later, the India skipper went after Dipendra Singh, hitting him for a stunning flick-sweep. The quicker ball was pitched on the outside off stump, Rohit kneeled down, whipped it wristily while sitting down and hit it comfortably over deep square leg for a huge six.
He remained unbeaten on 74, hitting five sixes in his knock.
