The India-Pakistan Super Fours encounter witnessed a wholesome moment after play was called off due to a wet outfield. Pakistan speedster Shaheen Afridi went over towards the Indian camp and handed Jasprit Bumrah a gift for his newborn baby and wished for his well-being.

Bumrah, who recently became a father, had to leave the ongoing Asia Cup and travel back to Mumbai for the birth of his child. While he featured in the first match against Pakistan on September 2, he missed the second against Nepal where Mohammed Shami took his place. Bumrah was, however, back for the Super Fours encounter and slotted straight into the playing XI.

As luck would have it though, he hasn’t had a bowl yet in the tournament, with India’s first match getting washed out and the Super Fours game being pushed into the reserve day (September 11) after 24.1 overs of play was possible on the scheduled match day.

Contrary to India’s start with the bat in the group stage game against Pakistan, they began in authoritative fashion in the Super Fours game with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill putting on a century opening partnership. India’s score was 147-2 after 24.1 overs when play was stopped.

The match will resume on the reserve day (September 11) from the same point where it was stopped and it will be a full 50-overs game unless rain plays spoilsport again.
