Bolstered by the return of Litton Das, who had been suffering from a viral fever, Bangladesh opted to bat in the first Super Four match – the last of the Asia Cup 2023 in Pakistan.
Shaheen Shah Afridi (1-42) and Naseem Shah (3-34) struck once each before Haris Rauf (4-19) dented Bangladesh further with two wickets in the 10th over. Rauf bowled at great pace, first cramping Mohammad Naim for room, then yorking Towhid Hridoy.
From 31-0, Bangladesh slipped to 47-4 when the two senior men, captain Shakib Al Hasan (53 in 57 balls, seven fours) and wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim (64 in 87, five fours) came together to add exactly 100 in 20 overs.

However, things fell apart yet again once the fast bowlers returned, and Bangladesh lost their last six wickets for 46 runs in under 10 overs, losing wickets in an attempt to play overly ambitious shots with plenty of overs to spare as Rauf struck twice more. Pakistan struck four times in eight balls to wrap up the tail.
The Bangladesh pacers began well, and neither Fakhar Zaman (20) nor Babar Azam (17) got going. But Imam-ul-Haq (78 in 84 balls) and Mohammad Rizwan (63 in 79) got their eyes in to shut Bangladesh out of the contest. Rauf was named Player of the Match.
The tournament now moves to R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, where the remaining Super Four matches will be played, on September 10, 12, 14, and 15, followed by the final on September 17.
