The big clash between India and Pakistan at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy will begin at 3pm local time. Rain threatens to hamper the game, but the forecast is not as gloomy as it was a week ago.

This will be the first time since the 2019 World Cup that India and Pakistan will play an ODI against each other. The last time the two teams met in a 50-over game, in England, India emerged victorious by 89 runs, after managing 336-5 in the first innings.

This will be Pakistan’s second game of the ongoing Asia Cup, after having defeated Nepal in the opener by a record margin of 238 runs. India, on the other hand, will open their account in the competition on Saturday, and will then play Nepal on September 4 (Monday).

Pakistan have already announced their playing XI for the clash and will go in unchanged from their previous clash. For India, KL Rahul has been ruled out due to a niggle, and Ishan Kishan is likely to replace him in the final XI.
