There had been a lot of back and forth between Pakistan and India regarding the venue of the tournament with India refusing to play in Pakistan and Pakistan threatening to pull out of the ODI World Cup in India. After undergoing several revisions, the official schedule for the 2023 Asia Cup was finally released on July 19.
Last year the Asia Cup was played in the T20 format, preceding the 2022 T20 World Cup, and was won by Sri Lanka. With the 50-over World Cup coming up later this year, the Asia Cup will be played in the ODI format to act as a precursor to the marquee event later in the year.
