The Group B game between the two sides had been washed away due to rain last week, and similar weather is expected for the upcoming clash as well. Keeping in mind the forecast, a reserve day has been added on Monday, September 11, in case the match is unable to be completed on Sunday.

September 8: The India-Pakistan clash gets a reserve day, but no other games in the tournament will have an additional day in case of a washout.
September 6: According to reports, the Asian Cricket Council informed the Pakistan Cricket Board that the India-Pakistan match would be played at Hambantota due to the forecast. However, the ACC later confirmed that all the games would be played in Colombo as scheduled.
According to ESPNCricinfo, the PCB, the hosts of the tournament, were not consulted before the decision was made by the ACC, whose President Jay Shah is also the Secretary of the BCCI.
Former PCB chair Najam Sethi alleged that India were afraid of playing and losing to Pakistan, and hence did not prefer switching venues where a full game could have been possible.
