The Asia Cup is being played in the T20I format in order to prepare sides for the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year. The six-team event features India, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
Hong Kong made the final round after winning the Qualifier, which also had UAE, Singapore and Kuwait. They will be in Group A along with India and Pakistan. Group B will have Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
The competition began on August 27, with Sri Lanka playing the opener with Afghanistan. The second game of the event is the highly-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan, which will be played at the Dubai Cricket Stadium on Sunday, August 28.
There has been plenty of off-field chatter around the clash of the two neighbouring countries. Shaheen Afridi, who has been ruled out of the Asia Cup due to a knee injury, recently extended his wishes to Virat Kohli, who has been struggling with his form of late.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has also been seen catching up with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who called the 27-year-old the best batter across formats recently.
The Indians are missing the services of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel, while Pakistan will also be without Mohammad Wasim Jr besides Shaheen.
