In a historic first, Afghanistan will host New Zealand in a Test match in their adopted home ground at the Greater Noida Sports Complex in India. The match will be played between Monday, September 9 and Friday, September 13.

Afghanistan will be without their skipper Rashid Khan, who has been rested for the series to recover from a back injury. Instead of Rashid, Hashmatullah Shahidi will lead the side. Star opener Ibrahim Zadran has also been ruled out of the Test due to an injury.
