Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored his eighth ODI hundred to drive Afghanistan to a series win against Bangladesh yesterday (November 11), becoming the third-fastest to achieve the feat.

The three-match series was tied heading into the decider. Bangladesh scored 244-8, with contributions from captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz (66) and Mahmudullah (98). In response, Gurbaz led Afghanistan's chase with a 120-ball 101 with support from Azmatullah Omarzai (70*) to clinch the series 2-1 with five wickets and 10 balls remaining.

Gurbaz's match-winning hundred was studded with seven sixes and five fours, drawing him level with Sachin Tendulkar and Quinton de Kock for most ODI hundreds before turning 23. He surpassed Virat Kohli, who had seven to his name by that time.

Among Gurbaz's eight centuries since his debut in 2021, three have come against Bangladesh, two against Ireland and one each against South Africa, Pakistan and the Netherlands. The century was his third this year.

On the virtue of his innings yesterday, Gurbaz entered another elusive club. He is now the third-fastest to get to eight ODI hundreds in terms of innings (46). Gurbaz closely trails Babar Azam and Hashim Amla, who reached the feat in 44 and 43 innings, respectively.

Scotland's Calum MacLeod is the only player to feature on the list from an Associate Member. He is ranked sixth for reaching the milestone in his 56th innings.
