Afghanistan will play Bangladesh in a three-match ODI series beginning this week (November 6). Here are the full squad lists for the series, including injury updates.
While Bangladesh come into the series straight off the back of a thumping series defeat to South Africa at home, Afghanistan last played an international series in September. In that series, they beat South Africa in a bilateral ODI series for the first time in their history, with that being their first series after reaching the semi-finals of the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Following the first game on November 6, the second ODI will be on November 9 before the series concludes on November 11. The entire series will be played at Sharjah.
BAN v AFG ODIs: Full team lists and injury updates
Afghanistan: Hashmatullah Shahidi (c), Rahmat Shah (vc), Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Ikram Alikhil, Abdul Malik, Riaz Hassan, Sediqullah Atal, Darwish Rasooli, Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Rashid Khan, Nangyal Kharoti, AM Ghazanfar, Noor Ahmad, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Bilal Sami, Naveed Zadran, Farid Ahmad Malik.

Bangladesh have continued with Najmul Hossain Shanto as captain after a reported discussion between Shanto and BCB president Faruque Ahmed last week. Shanto was reportedly reluctant to continue as Bangladesh's all-format captain following their heavy Test defeats to South Africa. Faruque told the media following the meeting that Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Taskin Ahmed were 'front-runners' to takeover the captaincy, but Shanto has seemingly agreed to continue for at least this series.
Bangladesh have also included uncapped 22-year-old pacer Nahid Rana in their squad. Rana has played five Test matches, taking 14 wickets with an innings best of 4-44. He has played 10 List A matches previously, with a record of 26 wickets at 16.46.
Opener Zakir Hasan and left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed have been recalled to the squad, while Anamul Haque, Taijul Islam and Hasan Mahmud have not been included - Mahmud due to a shoulder injury. There is also no Shakib Al Hasan, who, according to Faruque, voluntarily pulled out of consideration for the series. Litton Das is also missing due to the fever which saw him miss the Chattogram Test against South Africa.
Afghanistan, on the other hand, have made two new additions to their squad which beat South Africa in September. Opener Sediqullah Atal and left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmed come into the squad, while Ibrahim Zadran (recovering from ankle surgery) and Mujeeb Ur Rahman (right phalanx sprain), miss out.
