AFG vs IRE: When and where is the Test?

Afghanistanwill host Ireland for a Test match between from February 28 in their adopted home of the UAE. Tolerance Oval in Abu Dhabi will host the fixture.

Having become the last entrant to ICC Full Membership in 2017, both sides have met each other once in the format at Dehradun in 2019. Rashid Khan starred for Afghanistan with 2-20 and 5-82, powering them to a seven-wicket victory.

Ireland have made wholesale changes to their squad, as only five members of the Test squad from the Afghanistan Test in 2019 have been retained. Andrew Balbirnie will captain the 15-member group, which includes plenty of newcomers. After clean-sweeping the ODI and T20I series against Zimbabwe in December, Ireland went to a preparatory camp in Spain before flying out to UAE before the start of the Test.

For the home side, Hashmatullah Shahidi will lead a 15-player squad. Rashid Khan is still recovering from the lower-back surgery and is not part of the squad.
