In the final leg of Afghanistan’s multi-format series in Sri Lanka, the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium will host three T20Is between the two sides. Sri Lanka claimed victory in the one-off Test match as well as in all three T20Is in the previous series of the tour.
The hosts have made one change from their ODI squad for the T20I series, bringing in fast-bowler Binura Fernando for an injured Dushmantha Chameera. Chameera injured his left quadricep in the first ODI, which Sri Lanka won by 42 runs. Fernando last played for Sri Lanka in October 22, with his time in international cricket so far being regularly punctuated by injury. At 6 foot 7 in tall, he has 12 T20I wickets in as many appearances to his name.

Afghanistan will once more be without regular T20I captain Rashid Khan, as he continues to recover from back surgery. Ibrahim Zadran will lead the side in his absence. Mujeeb Ur Rahman has also been ruled out of the series after spraining his right hand before the start of the ODI series. Mohammed Saleem has also failed to recover from injury in time for the series.
From their previous series against India, Afghanistan have dropped Ikram Alikhil and Rahmat Shah. Mohammed Ishaq has been called up as wicketkeeper in place of Alikhil, while Wafadar Momand replaces Saleem.
