Bangladesh will host Afghanistan for a Test match in Mirpur from June 14. Here are the squad and team lists for the BAN vs AFG Test.
Afghanistan are touring Bangladesh for a Test match at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur (from June 14), three ODIs at Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram (on July 5, 8, and 11), and two T20Is at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (on July 14 and 16).
Bangladesh had hosted Afghanistan for a Test match only once, in Chattogram in 2019. On that occasion, Afghan captain Rashid Khan made 51 and 24, and claimed 11 wickets to lead his team to a famous win. However, Rashid will miss the upcoming Test match.
This will be Afghanistan’s seventh Test match, and their first since March 2021. They have won three and lost three of their first six Test matches.
Bangladesh’s last Test match was against Ireland, this April, at the same venue – a match they won by seven wickets. They had created history in January 2022 by returning from New Zealand with a 1-1 draw.
However, between the two events, Bangladesh had lost 0-2 to India at home, 0-2 in the West Indies, 0-1 against Sri Lanka at home, and 0-2 in South Africa: it has not been a great run for them.
