Chasing 307 for to win the second ODI against Bangladesh, Afghanistan were in a spot of bother, losing three wickets for 84 runs. They sank deeper when the third umpire ruled Rahmat Shah run out in the 17th over after replays suggested the non-striker was well short of his crease as the ball hit the stumps following a firmly struck shot. Shakib, the bowler, had sent down a tossed up delivery, which batter Najibullah Zadran pushed back down the ground.

Upon first glance, the ball seemed to brush past Shakib’s fingers as it went back to hit the stumps at the non-striker’s end. With Shah well out of his crease, it appeared a run-out, with the on-field umpires asking the TV umpire to take a look.

The third umpire ruled Shah out after confirming he was found well short, but a long conversation followed between the umpires and the home side, after which Bangladesh and Shakib retracted their appeal with the all-rounder confirming the ball had not grazed his fingers. The gesture found plenty of applause from viewers.

Has Shakib got his finger on the ball? Shakib says he could not but the third umpire makes the decision that he did & gave Rahmat Shah out. Later, Shakib discussed with captain Tamim & they asked the umpires to reverse the decision.

Lovely sportsman spirit from Bangladesh and legend Shakib Al Hasan, he knew he didnt make the contact with the ball, despite the the third umpire signalling it out Bangladesh refused the call and it was overturned.
