The ZIM vs IND ODI series will begin on August 18
by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

India will play in a three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe starting August 18 – here’s the full squad and team list for ZIM v IND 2022.

The Men in Blue come into the rubber on the back of an impressive 3-0 series victory over the West Indies. Quite a few of India’s first-choice players are missing for this series too but the squad still looks strong on paper. The side will be led by KL Rahul, who returns after an injury lay-off. Shikhar Dhawan, meanwhile, will act as his deputy. Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav have been rested, meaning that there could be opportunities for Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson. Shubman Gill would also want to continue the fine form he showed against the West Indies.

On the bowling front, Deepak Chahar makes his long-awaited return from injury. Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna are also part of the side. Avesh Khan and Shardul Thakur would also be wanting to stake a claim for a more permanent role in the team.

Zimbabwe, meanwhile, won their most recent ODI assignment against Bangladesh. Most of those players will be turning out against India, giving them a good chance of causing an upset. Regis Chakabva has been appointed skipper. Craig Ervine, who missed the ODI games against Bangladesh, remains sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Much of Zimbabwe’s fortunes will depend on how Sikandar Raza fares. The all-rounder was brilliant against Bangladesh and would be hoping to continue in a similar vein. Innocent Kaia, Ryan Burl and Wesley Madhevere are in good touch and are capable of rattling the Indian cage.
