India have played 14 Test matches at the Oval, located in London, winning two and losing five, with seven Tests ending in a draw. They first played a game at the stadium in 1936 and ended up losing convincingly to England, by nine wickets.
Their first win was in 1971, during the third Test of their England tour. After dismissing England for 101 in their second innings, India chased down the target of 173 with four wickets to spare, as they recorded a historic win.
However, India were unable to record another win in their next eight encounters on the ground before they finally broke the jinx against England in 2021.
The WTC final will be played from June 7 to June 11.

Last Test played by India at the Oval
India recorded a 157-run win here the last time they played, in 2021 against England. The visitors had taken a 99-run lead after the first innings when India were bowled out for 191. However, the Virat Kohli-led team bounced back, making 466 in their second innings, with opener Rohit Sharma scoring 127 in 256 balls.

Set a target of 368 for a win, England were all out for 210, with Umesh Yadav picking up three wickets.

Australia’s Oval Test record
The Australian cricket team has the worst record at the Oval among all of England’s Test cricket grounds. Since their first Test match at the venue in 1880, Australia have competed in 38 Test matches, only emerging victorious in seven. They have a success rate of merely 18.42% at the Oval. Australia have won only two games here in the last 50 years – in 2001 and 2015.
