New Zealand, who came agonisingly close to winning the 2019 ODI World Cup, will kickstart the 2023 edition against their opponents from the final of the previous tournament, England. Their first match, which will also be the curtain raiser for the tournament, will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
There are three venues where New Zealand will play two games each: Chennai, Dharamshala, and Bengaluru, and three other venues where they will play one game each: Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Pune.

Pune and Dharamshala are the only two venues out of the six where New Zealand have not played an ODI World Cup game before. Their overall record in ODI World Cups in India is even: seven wins and seven losses from 14 games.
In the previous edition of the ODI World Cup held in the subcontinent, New Zealand punched above their weight and qualified for the semi-finals against expectations before they were defeated by Sri Lanka.
Their previous three ODI World Cup results include one semi-final exit and two runners-up trophies. This time, they will be desperately hoping to go the extra mile.
