Here are the full fixtures list, match timings, and venues for England, the defending champions, at the ICC World Cup 2023.

In an encore of the 1996 World Cup, England and New Zealand will play the tournament opener, in Ahmedabad. The league stage of World Cup 2023 will be played in round robin format, which will be followed by the two semi-finals and the final.

The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will be the only venue where England will play twice in the league stage – against New Zealand on October 5, and against Australia on November 4. India will host them at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, on October 29.

England have played World Cup matches at eight venues and won at five of them. Of these five, they will return only to the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where they had famously beaten India in the 1987 semi-final. This time, they will face South Africa, on October 21.

England’s other matches will be against Bangladesh (HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala, October 10); Afghanistan (Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, October 15); Sri Lanka (M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, October 26) and Netherlands (MCA Stadium Pune, November 8) from the ongoing World Cup Qualifiers; and Pakistan (Eden Gardens, Kolkata, November 11).

India have co-hosted three editions of the World Cup. In these, England reached the final in 1987, and the quarter-final in 1996 and 2011. Of their 10 matches on Indian soil, they have won six and lost three, while their clash against India in Bengaluru in 2011 ended in a tie.
