Australia and South Africa won their respective semi-finals at Newlands by near-identical margins of five and six runs, against India and England respectively.

However, they did lose to Australia in Gqeberha. Despite Tazmin Brits’ 36-ball 45, they reached only 124-6, which the Australians chased down well inside 17 overs as Tahlia McGrath went on a rampage.

Having not lost a Twenty20 International since March 2021, Australia will begin the World Cup as outright favourites, but South Africa will have the advantage of playing at home.
