The Women’s T20 World Cup will begin on February 10 but before that, teams will participate in practice games beginning on February 6. Here is the complete list of World Cup 2023 warm up matches.
The set of warm-up fixtures will be headlined by an India-Australia clash, set to take place at the Newlands in Cape Town on February 6. Both teams made the final of the last Women’s T20 World Cup, in Australia in 2020. Australia emerged triumphant in front of a packed Melbourne Cricket Ground, and will hope to get the better of India as they prepare for their title defence.
India, meanwhile, are playing a tri-series in South Africa, which also involved the West Indies. They have qualified for the final without losing a single match. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead India at the World Cup, with Smriti Mandhana acting as her deputy. After coming close to winning the title in 2020, India would hope that they can go a step further this time.
India will be further bolstered by the arrival of Shafali Verma and Richa Ghosh, part of the side that won the Under-19 World Cup in the same country in January.
India’s second warm-up game sees them take on Bangladesh on February 8. England, on the other hand, will clash against South Africa and New Zealand on February 6 and 8, respectively.
