Watch: In a 2024 WPL match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Shabnim Ismail bowled a rapid delivery to clean bowl Alyssa Healy.

Mumbai Indians posted 160-6 after Harmanpreet Kaur won the toss and opted to bat. They were 17-2 at one point before Nat Sciver-Brunt (45 in 31 balls) and Kaur (33 in 30) added 59. Amelia Kerr top scored with a 23-ball 39, while S Sajana remained unbeaten on a 14-ball 22.

For the UP Warriorz, Chamari Athapaththu claimed 2-27, while Grace Harris had figures of 3-0-18-0.

Mumbai struck with the 11th ball of the UP innings. Three balls after conceding a six, Saika Ishaque had her revenge by clean bowling Kiran Navgire. Hayley Matthews soon had Athapaththu caught at extra-cover as UP reached 15-2 after four overs.

Shabnim Ismail had caused a stir in her previous match, against the Delhi Capitals, by bowling the fastest recorded ball in women’s cricket – though some raised eyebrows at that claim.

Now, she bowled one on leg-stump. It seemed to skid off the surface, and came too quickly for Alyssa Healy to respond. Healy was yet to complete her stroke by the time the leg-stump was knocked out of the ground.

Ismail finished with 4-0-6-1. At the time of writing, UP were in tatters at 103-7 after 18 overs with Deepti Sharma (40) and Uma Chetry (7) at the crease.
