Women’s Ashes 2023 schedule: Full fixtures, timings and venues for Women’s Ashes

Women's Ashes trophy
by Wisden Staff 3 minute read

Women’s Ashes 2023 will be played between June 22 and July 18. Here are the Women’s Ashes 2023 schedule, full fixtures, timings and venues.

The 2023 Women’s Ashes will be played in its usual multi-format structure. There will be a Test match, followed by three T20Is and three ODIs. The teams – England and Australia – will get four points for winning the Test match, and two for each of the limited-overs matches.

In case of a no-result, a draw (the Test match), or a tie, the points will be shared. Since there are 16 points to be grabbed, whoever makes it to nine will win the series. The Test match will be played over five days, unlike the usual four-day format for women’s Tests.

Australia and England played the first ever women’s Test match, back in 1934/35, but the Women’s Ashes was officially coined only in 1998. They have been contesting for the multi-format Ashes since 2013.

England won the 2013 Women’s Ashes 12-4 at home, and retained it with a 10-8 win in Australia in 2013/14. In 2015, Australia clinched it for the first time with a 10-6 win in England, and retained it with an 8-8 drawn series at home in 2016/17.

Australia continue to hold the Women’s Ashes, following 12-4 wins, in England in 2019 and at home in 2021/22. Overall, Australia hold a 54-42 lead (28-20 at home, 26-22 in England) across six editions.

Meg Lanning’s absence will come as a blow to Australia. They will be led by Alyssa Healy in all three formats, with Tahlia McGrath as her deputy. England are yet to name any of their squads.
