West Indies v Pakistan 2021: Squads & team list for the WI v PAK Tests

Pakistan England
by Wisden Staff 2 minute read

Pakistan tour West Indies for a four-match T20I and Test series that will be held in July and August – see the full WI v PAK squads and team lists here.

The Pakistan Cricket Board had named a 19-member T20I squad for the series against England and West Indies in June. The Asian side took part in three T20Is against England, only to go down 1-2, and will have a chance of redemption when they take on West Indies from July 28.

The selectors had rewarded Azam Khan with a place in the T20I squad after stellar returns in the Pakistan Super League. The youngster had scored at a strike rate of over 144 for Quetta Gladiators but was unable to get going against England, scoring just six runs in two games. Imad Wasim returned to the T20I set-up as well after missing the series against South Africa and Zimbabwe.

West Indies, on the other hand, routed Australia 4-1 in the recent T20I series and will be looking to replicate their showing against Pakistan. Stalwarts Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo, Jason Holder along with Nicholas Pooran and Kieron Pollard bolster the home side.

Pollard is expected to be fit for the T20Is after missing the Australia series due to an injury. However, some changes to the side can be expected after the ODI squad for the series against Australia were sent into isolation following a positive Covid-19 case.

As for the Tests, the visitors have named an 18-member side, with the series being a part of the World Test Championship. Eleven members of the side are not a part of the T20I setup. They are: Abid Ali, Azhar Ali, Fawad Alam, Imran Butt, Muhammad Abbass, Naseem Shah, Noman Ali, Sajid Khan, Shahnawaz Dhani, Yasir Shah, and Zahid Mahmood.
