Jaiswal and Varma have both been rewarded for stellar seasons in IPL2023, earning their first white ball call-ups to the national squad. While he has yet to earn an international cap, Jaiswal was a reserve in India’s World Test Championship final squad last month. He has also been included in the Test squad which will face the West Indies in two Tests before the white-ball series gets underway.
Varma is another exciting left-handed batter coming through the ranks. He was explosive for Mumbai Indians in the IPL in 2023, finishing the competition with a strike rate of 164.11. This is his first inclusion in a senior international squad for India.
Kumar was included in the ODI squad to face the West Indies which was announced last week. With several key pace-bowlers rested for the series, including Mohammad Shami, Kumar joins an Avesh Khan, Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh and captain Hardik Pandya.
Sanju Samson is also back in the squad having last played a T20I in January this year.
The series will get underway on August 3 in Trinidad and Tobago, and the final match will be played on August 13 in Florida.
