Watch: Rest of India’s Umran Malik dismissed Saurashtra captain Jaydev Unadkat with a searing yorker that took out the off stump in the 2022 Irani Cup.
Umran, widely hailed as one of India’s quickest bowlers, picked up three wickets in a rapid spell that helped Rest of India bundle out Saurashtra for 98 all out in the first innings. The trio of quicks – Umran, Mukesh Kumar and Kuldeep Sen – shared all 10 wickets between them.
Unadkat was Umran’s second wicket, having also cleaned up Arpit Vasavada earlier to leave Saurashtra at 30-5. Another scalp, of Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, gave Umran a three-wicket haul. He finished with figures of 5.5-1-25-3.
According to reports, Umran is set to travel with the India contingent for the T20 World Cup in Australia as backup quicks.
The Irani Cup is an annual first-class match played between the winners of the Ranji Trophy and Rest of India. The ongoing fixture in Rajkot marks the return of the Cup for the first time in three years.
